Having the intention of easily exporting military equipment to Ukraine, which has entered its third month of conflict, the United States Congress relaunched the act of “lend-bail” which helped defeat the dictator German Adolf Hitler during the Second World War.

A report by the news agency Reuters said that the US Congress had adopted the “Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend -low Act of 2022” from 417 to 10 Thursday, three weeks after sailing in the Senate with unanimous support. The law was authorized the same day when the president of the country, Joe Biden, asked the Congress to approve $ 33 billion for Ukraine, including more than $ 20 billion for weapons, ammunition and other military assistance .

The law will now go to Biden to be connected to a law. “Today, the Ukrainian people are on the front line in the struggle for democracy and against tyranny, and the United States must provide them with all possible measures of humanitarian and military aid,” said the representative on Thursday Democrat Mary Gay Scanlon when she urged support for the bill.

What is Lend-Bail law?

> During the Second World War, the United States began to provide significant military supplies and another assistance to its allies in September 1940, although it only participated in the war in December 1941.

> According to the historian’s office, a large part of this aid was transported by plane to the United Kingdom and other countries which were already at war with Germany and Japan through the program called Lend- Lease.

> Throughout the Second World War, the United States has contracted loan rental agreements with more than 30 countries, which provides approximately $ 50 billion in aid.

> In the midst of the current Russian offensive in Ukraine, the law will help people affected by the attack on Moscow such as Poland and other countries in Eastern Europe as well as Ukraine.

> The law will also allow the American government to provide equipment to Ukraine now, with just a technical requirement to pay on a later date, essentially giving it to the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
