Social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat and Tiktok have grown at very aggressive speeds. For each user age group, this platform is a little different. But one thing that is done by almost all users in this social media application is to consume content in a deeper way than in the old world of boring text/blogs.
Especially young people. Parents are accustomed to finding content in a certain way. Most old users go to Google for their search questions about food places in certain locations. However, not children.According to the Petapixel report, Prabhakar Raghavan, Google’s senior vice president, has recently said that the questions requested by new internet users are very different. This user is not really using keywords to search. Instead, they find content in a new and deeper way.
Raghavan said that 40% of young people, when they went to look for a place for lunch, they did not go to Google Maps or search; They go to Instagram or Tiktok. Data for this is observed in studies conducted for users between ages 18 and 24.That makes sense too. Most social media applications now allow location marking options to the user’s post. This allows users to only look for certain locations and see all the cool things there and understand where most of the hips are moving.
Should Google be Worried?
The future is all about deep content. Google is mostly a traditional method for finding content through keywords. The growth of Instagram, Snapchat and Tiktok has never happened before, and will not stop here. Most users only find this platform for the first time in their lives. The number of users on this platform will only grow, and it must provide Google’s hard competition in the future. But Google is more than just looking for a location. Thus, extensive information available on Google makes it much bigger than this platform. So, there is no real threat to Google from this social media platform like now.
